I like #1 best than #3 – very abstract. The 2 lights in #2 bother me (it is only in the eye of the beholder). I like the redish glow in #3.
You are an inspiration for me! I will put mine tomorrow but do not hold your breath!-
Thanx Nicole, I hadn’t really given those two light bulbs much thought but yes, they are rather a focal point and can be distracting . .

Thought I’d start then year off with a favourite image of a Tulip just beginning to open. It was taken in the Blue Mountains last October and I have converted it to an antique look with Silver Efex.

Luv this low-key, high contrast image!!
The light & lines of those rails really draw the eye well!!
(I found this image by clicking on your name – its not in the critique group??)-
I just love the train lines and the way they draw you into the image… They seem to be the main subject, mainly because they are so bright. I do think there is a bit too much black around the image, and would consider cropping in a bit. I would probably come in so that the strong diagonal lines of the rails being you in from the lower RHS corner…

Great use of leading lines – evokes an urgency to get get to the light. Hope you weren’t in the tunnel to take this shot !

Critiques 1 week, 2 days agogood morning!
Thought I’d start the ball rolling . . .
Started the masterclass last week & though I haven’t taken anything mind blowing decided to post regardless to get into the ‘habit’!
Fog is such an intriguing dynamic beast. . – the familiar becomes unexplored & full of mystery. . .
These were taken from the car driving (I was the…[Read more]-

i like them, im always a sucker for mist though. the post production realyl brings them out and puts some depth into the images.

Nicole and Len here together in class, discussing your pictures…
We both love the first one of the power lines in the mist.
In the second photograph of the road, we played with cropping the guard rail and a little bit of road out of the image. This did change the focus of the photograph from the road to the vehicle in the mist. We both found…[Read more]-
Thanx guys!
I did consider cropping a bit but also really liked the graduated tone & wasn’t sure if I would lose that part of it. . . .

Hi Anne-Marie, taking images from a moving car and in fog is no mean feat! You have captured the images well and I like your perspective and use of leading lines. Your images remind me of an Australian photographer Graham Howe who also took images along the road minus the fog.!

Thanx Thea.
Checked out graham Howe – luv his homestead & Transformations galleries!

This is such an interesting area, especially for “landscape” photographers isn’t it?! There such diverse styles and approaches out there, many if not most presenting landscape images that are […]

Well said Ian.
There’s also the area of ‘abstraction’ and this has been one I have debated with myself many times. Abstraction can be achieved through very clever composition, or through the use of post […]

How I dread that question. Or the pre-digital equivalent: “Do you use filters?” Not because I have anything to hide, or because I don’t have a good answer. I dread the question because of the […]
